WELCOME

Welcome to the the home of Icarus Radio, broadcasting 24/7 and featuring singer/songwriters, instrumentalists and poets, all of whom are friends of the Icarus Club in London.

We present music from a rich variety of mostly unsigned or independent artists alongside some songs by more well-known acts. Some of our favourite artists' pics are dotted around the site. Click on them to go to their myspace/websites, they'd appreciate it - mention that you found them here too !

Our playlists are not computer-generated nor randomly put together, but are selected with thought and care. As well as the many cds and mp3s we get sent, we proactively seek new artists. If you'd like your songs played on our station, or you'd like to recommend a particular act, do so via our Forum (register on our forum and you'll also receive regular email updates - we will definitely not share your email address with anyone !).

FEATURED ARTIST

Our latest featured act on Icarus Radio is Barricades Rise, an acoustic duo from Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Formed in 2007, Jonathan Coates (vocals/guitar) and Michael McEntee (backing vocals/guitar) have actually been playing together for the best part of ten years in various guises, and the chemistry between them is quite stunning, with Jonathan's soaring vocals perfectly completed by Michael's outstanding guitar playing. Together they make for a powerful and energetic live act which has drawn comparisons with Turin Brakes, Starsailor and Elbow.

Last year they released their debut album "You And Your Adored", available in download and cd format from theire website. They've attracted rave reviews including:

(You can hear Barricades Rise's tracks on Icarus Radio sometime between a quarter to and a quarter past every "odd" hour, so 7 pm, 9pm, 11pm etc. throughout the day and night)
Barricades Rise will be appearing at the Icarus Club on Thursday 11th February.
